Shanghai Is A Jazz City

Jazz abounds in Shanghai. From the lounges of the big hotels to small eclectic clubs, live music is everywhere. I spent several evenings listening to great music at the House Of Blues And Jazz. This place brings in mainly international bands for three months at a time. The Continuum, hailing from New Orleans was THE band while I was in town. Check out these photos and the video below to get a feel for the atmosphere. (The video was taken at 15 fps using a Canon G6)

Acid Magma And Space Swirl In Shanghai

The locals pay 3 rmb (~$US0.40) to ride the subway (line #2) from Puxi to Pudong beneath the Huangpu river. Tourists pay 50 rmb ($US6) to a ride in the psychedelic Bund Sight Seeing Tunnel. The five minute ride takes place in a small cable car that is guided by house music, corny narration, colorful light beams, and waving puppets.

The Peaks At Papago Park

An unusually cool April morning is a good excuse for a hike at one of the local Phoenix peaks. The trail starts near the Phoenix Zoo and heads north toward the Papago Buttes. A few photos are posted here.
